TULANE
Hey I’m Alex! I’m studying Finance and Neuroscience at Tulane, and when I heard about Heart4Heart I knew I had to start a chapter at Tulane. Congenital heart disease doesn’t get enough attention, and the preventative surgeries are actually relatively inexpensive. Heart4Heart does a great job of providing donors with a specific project that they can see their money going towards, which I think is an important, and yet generally lacking feature of a lot of charities. Also, since the surgeries aren’t the most expensive it’s really gratifying to be able to see the tangible impact we are having on these children’s lives. I’m very excited to spread awareness about CHD and fundraise for these surgeries.

Britany Duclos
Co-President
Hi! I’m Britany and I’m an event planner for the Université de Sherbrooke’s chapter. I come from a small town near Montréal, Canada. I studied physiotherapy for three years at Université de Montréal before starting my medical school journey at Université de Sherbrooke in August of 2024. I love cooking and baking in my free time as I enjoy sharing a nice meal or giving pastries and deserts to the people I cherish. I decided to get involved with Heart4Heart because I foster a deep interest in international health. Moreover, I was exposed to congenital pathologies in children during my third year of physiotherapy as I did an internship in pediatrics with children living with severe developmental delays. This experience taught me so much about their reality as I came to create bonds with these children. I look forward to working with Heart4Heart and my colleagues at Université de Sherbrooke to raise awareness on congenital heart diseases and to help children in need get the care they so profoundly deserve.

For me, creativity and connection are at the center of everything I love, whether it’s drawing, painting, cooking, traveling, enjoying sports, or listening to good music. Hirad Haghbayan
VP Campaign
Hello! My name is Hirad and I’m a first year medical student originally from Quebec City, where I previously completed my DEC in Health Sciences at CEGEP Champlain St. Lawrence. I’m thrilled to be your designated VP Campaign for the year and to make an immediate impact within the community and abroad with each project put forward! Outside of medicine, I occupy myself with research regarding modern physics and mathematics, following sports (basketball, football, soccer, MMA), and philosophizing with friends. I applied to take part in Heart4Heart as I am fascinated by the intricacies of the cardiovascular system and thus eager to learn more about potential congenital complications related to it. More importantly, however, its mission of raising awareness towards congenital heart disease greatly resonated with me. I view it as an opportunity to make an impact extending beyond my limited scope of influence as a medical student by contributing to providing life-saving surgery to children and giving others the same gift I have of being able to live a long, healthy, and happy life.

Marie Fosse
